Why haven't we heard?
The Australian media has been silent on this issue. Contact them to ask why they are not letting us know about the siege of Gaza and why they have not let us know about Egypt refusing permission for the Viva Palestina convoy to dock in Nuweiba.

Draft Letter to Egyptian embassy - copy and paste the text below into your email, change and personalise it if you wish, then send it to the ambassador.

Hundreds of us Gaza Freedom Marchers from 43 countries are now pouring into Cairo only to find that they are banned by the Egyptian government from delivering $100,000s of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.  They are banned from meeting together as groups larger than 6 are illegal in Cairo.

The UN Information Centre, Cairo reported that Prof Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Occupied Territories: "praised the initiatives of civil society as “the only meaningful current challenge to Israel’s violations of its obligations as the Occupying Power of the Gaza Strip under the Geneva Conventions and the United Nations Charter.”"

Through the inaction of the UN and the international community, the marchers have left their families at this Christmas time to carry aid on behalf off their home communities.  They have  paid their own way to Cairo to represent civil society's response to the overwhelming inhumanity of Israel's criminal blockade of 1.5 million Gazans.

I now respectfully ask the Egyptian government to help them carry out their mission and travel to Gaza in a spirit of peace and cooperation.
