Ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem
Israel continues to
support the
ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem. In the early morning on Thursday
(2 April, 2009) Israeli settlers occupied a house in Jerusalem Old
City's Muslim
quarter. Neighbours reported that they received support from the
police. Nasser Jaber, who owned the house, was renovating so no-one was sleeping in the house. No-one seemed sure how the settlers gained access, but all agreed that police were supporting them by bringing in food and drinks and responding to the presence of international activists, Neighbours reported that the Israeli police, who arrived around 3am, protected the settlers and allowed them to complete their takeover unhindered. "We
called the (Israeli) police, but instead of removing
them, the police are protecting them." said one resident. n the
afternoon, police were seen giving food and electrical equipment to the
settlers inside of Nasser’s house.Mr Jaber has presented his ownership documents to the Israeli court. The court says it will reach a decision as to who owns the house on Sunday. This most recent takeover follows months of increased settler activity in occupied East Jerusalem. Palestinian
residents in Jerusalem’s old city, Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan, and
elsewhere often face eviction, with settlers given ownership of their
houses. In the East Jerusalem suburb of Sheik Jarrah, residents are battling eviction orders which would allow settlers to take possessions of their homes. Although the families have owned the houses since the 1950s, this seems to count for nothing with the Israeli courts. So far they have not succeeded in their attempts to prevent the settlers from taking over their homes. :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: ::::::

CJPP endorses the official Palestinian BDS Movement. B
= BoycottD = Divestment S = Sanctions The management committee of CJPP has decided to formally endorse the official Palestinian BDS Movement. This is an international movement which has grown out of the response to the call, in 2005, from Palestinian civil society to organizations and people of conscience all over the world to impose broad boycotts and implement divestment initiatives against Israel, similar to those applied to South Africa in the apartheid era, until Israel meets its obligation to recognize the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination and fully complies with international law. BDS has been endorsed by over 170 Palestinian parties, organizations, trade unions and movements representing the Palestinian people in the 1967 and 1948 territories and in the diaspora. On July 13, 2005 the UN International Civil Society Conference adopted the Palestinian Call for BDS. :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: ::::::

all of you who have been part of this momentous time in
the history of the Palestinian people, thank you for all your hard

for the Palestinian cause within Australia. :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: :::::: ::::::
